Congratulations and thank you to everyone who served as Team Captains and Volunteers in the 2003 Akron/Canton Walk To Cure Diabetes. It was a beautiful Walk Day and a great success for JDRF and diabetes research! To-date, we raised $367,476, and pledges are still coming into the JDRF office!
Following are the Top 5 Corporate Teams to-date for this year’s walk:

Together our Family Teams raised $78,037.

Enclosed is all the PRELIMINARY team totals to-date. Please review your team’s numbers and encourage your walkers to mail all outstanding pledges to JDRF by October 13. This is when the Chapter Staff will order walker incentive prizes and awards. Be sure you inform your walkers to send their money into the chapter along with a listing of the team name and walker name so JDRF can properly allocate that money to the appropriate team and walker.
Again, thank you for your dedication to this worthwhile cause. We would like to invite you to celebrate our hard work and success at the JDRF Awards & Appreciation Reception, November 12, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at the Kent State University Stark Professional Education & Conference Center.

Outstanding Pledges
Please encourage all walkers to collect outstanding pledges by October 13 and mail them to the JDRF office. When sending in donations, please include the name of the team and walker that the money should be credited to or the money gets entered into a general Walk fund. Mail to:

Walk T-Shirts
On Walk Day, there was some confusion at the Main Registration Tent as volunteers distributed shirts to all walkers when shirts should have been distributed to walkers who only raised
$100 or more. As a result, the JDRF office has no more Akron/Canton Walk T-Shirts. However, the JDRF office does have a few Cleveland Walk T-Shirts remaining. The shirts are the same as Akron/Canton, except that the company logos on the back of the shirt will consist of Cleveland Sponsors instead of Akron/Canton sponsors. If any of your walkers raised the $100 and did not receive a Walk T-Shirt, please contact the JDRF Office and they will try to accommodate your request. We deeply apologize if you did not receive a shirt and raised $100.
Walk Prizes
JDRF will be ordering walk prizes in the next few weeks for walkers who raised more than $200 and above. Walkers will need to turn in uncollected pledges by October 13 to be eligible for walker incentive prizes. Prizes are shipped directly to the address listed on the walker Check-In Form. Special Thanks
We would like to extend a special thank you to our Walk Committee, Family Team Committee, and all of the walk day volunteers who helped make the 2003 Walk the most successful Walk in the history of the Branch. We would also like to thank the dedicated volunteers from FirstMerit, Roadway Express, Aultman Hospital, Realty One, Diebold, and Mercy Medical Center who helped to make sure the Walk went as smooth as possible.
